The Bowen Island Man, some call it the “worst ride of your life.” A 128km, 4,000m route covering all of the main roads across the small island of Bowen Island, a short ferry ride off the coast of Vancouver, BC.⁠ ⁠In the summer of 2025, Stef Curtis took it on. And when one lap wasn’t enough, he turned around and rode it all again—in reverse.

Finished it, and then rode home.⁠ ⁠ 344km. 9,359m of elevation. 26 hours 48 minutes on a bike.⁠ ⁠ A legendary effort by any measure.

Every winter, we gain a lot of loud new residents on local beaches and floating docks here on Bowen. Stellar and California sea lions put on quite a show—barking all day (and night!). For some, their appearance is a positive sign of a healthy Howe Sound, but there are mixed sentiments about our winter visitors.
